I HAVE A HOME STUDIO, WHAT CAN A BIGGER STUDIO POSSIBLY DO FOR ME?

The advances in technology for home recording studios have been astonishing over the past 20 years. Honestly, we wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for home recording. However, home recording has it’s disadvantages. Most people’s homes or apartments are not built with proper design or acoustical properties for a “clean” recording. Commercial recording studios invest tens of thousands of dollars on designing and building rooms that are properly balanced for resonance, timbre, and sonic frequency response. You may be able to “bury” your neighbour’s lawnmower in your mixes, but fragments of unwanted noises will always remain. Larger studios are also equipped with microphones and gear that are typically impractical for the home studio. That allows us to capture intricate details of the performance and dynamics that are often lost in home recordings. Then there is the mixing / mastering… most musicians and DIY engineers have a pretty good ear for what they want, but don’t have the experience, gear, or ability to incorporate that sound in the mix.

CAN I BRING IN MY OWN ENGINEER?

Yes. If you choose to use your own engineer, we do require the engineer chosen to make sure they are familiar with our equipment prior to your session. Please ensure you review all documentation about operating the room ahead of your session, technical support during your session may incur an additional fee. We are able to provide an in-house engineer if requested prior to the session.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RECORD A SONG?

How much does a plane ticket cost to go to either Bendigo, or out of space? There are so many factors that go into the price of recording one song. Much of that depends on you. Are you well rehearsed? How many instruments / tracks will be involved? What quality product are you looking to receive (demo or commercial)?
We would be happy to meet with you to discuss your project goals to give you an accurate estimate, but there are literally thousands of correct answers to this question.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR MY SESSION?

We require a deposit equal to half of the initial quote to confirm your booking. We recommend that you bring a hard drive to your session to take your files with you. We are not responsible for any loss of files after the time of your session. You’re free to bring any of your own equipment along with you such as your own laptop/audio interface and microphones, please just let us know in advance so we can ensure it will be compatible with our system.

DO YOU HAVE GEAR THAT I CAN USE FOR MY SESSION?

Yes. We offer in-house microphones, monitoring, computers, interfaces and studio lighting. You can find details about price and specific equipment in our Equipment List sections of this site.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SET UP?

Setup is incorporated into your scheduled recording time, whether you are there yet or not. We recommend arriving at least 15-30 minutes early to familiarise yourself with the facilities and equipment.
